Hey Look! I have a blog!

Why?

Because I have big plans this year and I want to share the journey with you!

It all started with a little Augusta Race Recap back in October, 2013. Bottom-line? I'm doing an Ironman! 140.6 miles: 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run. Ironman Chattanooga is set for September 28, 2014.

Augusta Half Ironman 2013

Top 10 things that will convince me to sign up for an Ironman!

1.  An incredibly supportive husband, The Honey Badger.  He's an Ironman veteran with a wealth of knowledge.  With his support, anything is possible.

2.  An Ironman Buddy.  Tara and I trained for Augusta Half Ironman together and we're committed to training for Ironman Chattanooga together.

3.  A great physical coach.  The Pro, James Haycraft, is committed to coaching me to the finish line. I fully believe in his philosophy and I am confident that he will get me to the start line healthy and fit.

So Pro.

4.  A great mental coach.  Coach HB will be taking on this role.  He helps me prepare mentally and talks me through all strategies. We make a great team.

What Would Honey Badger Do?

5.  A good cause.  I am committed to raising >$5000 and awareness for Crohn's & Colitis Foundation.  Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are chronic, debilitating and medically incurable diseases that attack the digestive system and currently, there is no cure for the 1.4 million Americans living with these diseases.  As I type this, The Ironman Chattanooga Challenge group has already raised over $231,000 for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation.

6.  A great team.  I am more than excited to be a part of ICE Racing this year.  Not only are they all super talented, but they are great friends and they push me to be a stronger athlete. I  am looking forward to what the next year will bring as a member of ICE Racing.

7.  The coolest running group around. DART (Davidson Area Running Team) are some of my favorite people in the world. I am so lucky to live among such a great running community.  We put in some serious miles early in the dark of morning and we have a blast doing it.  We also enjoy really good coffee at Summit afterwards.  I would not be the athlete that I am today if it were not for this amazing group of people.

DART represents Elf Run 2012

8.  A family that may not fully understand why I do what I do....but they support me no matter what!

9.  YouTube Videos! Watch a few Ironman YouTube videos and you too will be convinced you can be an Ironman!

10.  Finally, it takes a dream.  It was probably back in 2005 that I first had the thought that I'd like to do an Ironman.  I'm not sure I ever believed I'd ever actually do it.  But if you dream long enough, if you believe in yourself enough, if you surround yourself with people that support your dreams, you eventually realize that there are truly NO LIMITS.

No Limits.

That dream that started in 2005 will become a reality on September 28, 2014.

11.  One more.... you have to be half CRAZY!!!!

Thanks for following my journey, I hope to keep it interesting and fun!
